President & Chief Executive Officer
Jim McAlister IV joined the Company in 1993. Today he is responsible for overseeing the Company and its investment activities. He has raised and successfully invested on behalf of premier investment partners more than $265 million in capital in eight fund vehicles since 2003. Prior to the creation of the Land Fund No. 1 in 2003, he participated in the management of more than 30 separate limited partnership investments. Before joining the Company, Jim worked with CB Richard Ellis as a commercial broker from 1986 to 1993. Jim earned his BBA in Finance from The University of Texas.
Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Beau Ryan joined the Company in 2007 and has overall responsibility for all accounting and reporting for the Land Funds. He oversees all financial and administrative matters for Rockspring Capital and its related entities. He is also responsible for communications and reporting on partnership activities to limited partners. Prior to joining the Company, Beau was Director of Financial Analysis at Landry’s Restaurants and played a key role in new site development and held oversight responsibility for real estate asset management. Before his time at Landry’s, he provided financial and strategic analysis in support of planning, budgeting and other reporting processes at Invesco Aim. Beau earned a BA in Public Relations from The University of Texas and his MBA in Finance from the University of Houston.
Managing Director
Jim Hynes joined the Company in 2010 and is responsible for business development activities related to prospective investors in the Company’s funds. He is also responsible for managing fund-raising activities, including the formation and structuring of new offerings, as well as communications and marketing to new investors, both individual and institutional. Jim’s background includes executive leadership positions with both public and private real estate equity firms and has been involved in more than $1 billion of transactions representing approximately $250 million in new capital. Jim holds a BS in Accounting from Merrimack College and an MBA in Finance from Suffolk University.
Vice President, Asset Management & Entitlements
Michael joined the company in 2006 and is responsible for property acquisition and enhancement activities. He oversees all pre-acquisition due diligence and post closing entitlement activities for the Funds. Prior to joining Rocksping Capital, Michael was Vice President of Todd Land Company a long time residential development company in the Houston metro area. With Todd Land Company, Michael was directly responsible for the acquisition, financing and development of six residential communities. Prior to working at Todd Land Company, Michael was one of the youngest Area Managers for Royce Homes. At Royce, Michael managed, sales, marketing and construction activities in 12 separate communities throughout Houston. His knowledge of homebuyer and developer tendencies is critical to the property selection process at Rockspring Capital. Michael has BS in Environmental Management from the University of Houston Clear Lake.
Vice President of Business Development
Jesse Weaver joined the Company in 2012 and is responsible for investor relations, raising investment capital and finding new marketing opportunities. He’s been involved in the development and funding of numerous residential sites and regularly works with U.S. and international-based investors. Prior to joining the company, Jesse worked at Cushman & Wakefield where he received office development and capital markets experiences in Moscow. Prior to that, Jesse was a member of Team USPA, the United States Polo Association, where he played professionally around the world, which helped him build his network in U.S., Mexico, Canada, Russia, and Argentina. Jesse also played varsity polo at New Mexico State University and finished third in the nation at the USPA Intercollegiate National Tournament in 2007. He then transferred to Bradley University in Peoria, IL, where he received his BS in Marketing.
James joined the Company in 2002 and is responsible for site acquisition and the sale of existing inventory. Since that time, he has brokered over $265 million in land sales in the Greater Houston Area. James has worked with a myriad of buyers including investors, retail developers, apartment developers and single-family developers. Prior to joining the company, James was Vice President at Keeland and Associates, a residential construction company located in Houston. James holds a BA in Management Information Systems from Texas Tech University.
Chris joined the Company in 2004 and is responsible for identifying new investment opportunities, marketing current inventory and raising investment capital. Since joining Rockspring, he has been involved in over $300 million in real estate transactions. Chris has broad market knowledge in all submarkets of Houston. Prior to joining the Company, Chris worked for InSite Realty as an Associate in their Corporate Services Division. Chris holds a BA from The University of Texas at Austin.
Zach joined the Company in 2008 and leads the central Texas office in Austin. Zach is responsible for finding investment opportunities in and around Austin and San Antonio and marketing those acquisitions to end-users. Prior to joining the Company, he spent eight years in the entertainment, legal and technology industries. Zach holds a BS in Biology from Baylor University.
Matt Herring joined the company in 2011, bringing nearly a decade of experience to the company's real estate team. Before joining the Company, he spent 9 years working for Grubb & Ellis Company, where he served on the Houston Grubb & Ellis Board of Directors and was recognized for his outstanding work with awards, such as, 2003 Rookie of the Year. Matt holds a BA in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.
